A Few Thoughts on Peace

(As found on Writer.com)

*Remember that: I can’t control what happens in life (I can only control myself and my choices and how I will respond). Better yet, I don’t need to. When I can trust that every situation offers me exactly what I need at this time to grow, I can embrace rather than resist whatever comes up.

* I can set intentions AND I can release expectations. Unmet expectations are a major source of grief. It’s that whole issue of control at work again.

*I usually have choice in each situation. I can choose to allow other people and events to claim my time and power or I can choose not to. Sometimes, I need to say no - not now or not ever. I can choose to apply the 4 D’s - Do it, Dump it, Delegate it or Date it into the future.

"Often we allow ourselves to be upset by small things that we should forget about at once. Perhaps someone we helped has proven ungrateful, someone we believed to be a friend has spoken ill of us, some regard we thought we deserved has been denied to us. We feel disappointment so strongly that we can no longer work, or even sleep. We lose many irreplaceable hours brooding over grievances that in a year's time will be forgotten by us and everybody else. Let us devote our lives to worthwhile feelings and actions, to great thoughts, real affections and enduring actions for others. Life is too short to be little." --Author Unknown
