Taking Flight

Listen to your whispers. Identify them. Follow their truth. Hold possibility close to your chest and allow it to step into the light and give your creative spirit a chance. Do the thing that scares you the most. By doing it, you'll give birth to your life's promise and unearth your buried dreams. Rediscover your worth, your potential, your creative spirit. Then go and fly on its wings to places you won't ever want to leave.        Kelly Rae Roberts

I'm feeling an overflowing of gratitude for all the beautiful people in my life who surround me with love, support and inspiration. For all those who nudge me toward my truth.

The above words were written by artist and author Kelly Rae Roberts in her book Taking Flight-a beautiful book about giving our creative spirit wings. Kelly Rae has been such an inspiration to me. She is my living, breathing symbol of what is possible. By being brave and living her truth she has given me the courage to live my own. She has shown me what happens when we embrace possibility rather than fear. She has shown me what can happen when we look within for the answers to our questions and longings rather than looking to others for permission and validation. Her beautiful and whimsical artwork inspired me to pick up a brush and make my own color.

Oh my, what a journey this is. I'm beside myself with giddiness for my upcoming art show---it's a symbol of me stepping into my own truth, something I'm feeling very comfortable with these days. Here's to trust and love, inspiration and all things true and beautiful. And to taking our own unique, joy-filled flight.
