I was browsing through this amazing artist's site and came across this very powerful, thought-provoking and empowering TED talk video. (below) A reminder to all of us (boys included!) to embrace our emotional side.
P.S:: One of my readers left the below comment, I think he makes a very strong point. Thank you, Justin. Here's to embracing our emotional side and celebrating individuality!

I want to embrace empathy/vulnerability/passion, both in me and others. But why call these things femininity or 'inner girl'? That seems to reinforce gender constructs. I'd rather celebrate individuality and undermine those constructs..."

Justin---you made such a good point, i completely agree and couldn't have put it better. Thank you for speaking up and clarifying something i think is very important.
ReplyDeletep.s: Just to be clear, this is not Lori Portka's video (i just happened to come across it on her site!)
This was so powerful! Wow! I love how she talked about being shattered by the stories she heard in the Congo, and how it opened her heart wide and emboldened her in a way she hadn't been before. What stuck with me most is how resillient we can be, even in the greatest adversity. Is this the Vagina Monologues woman?
ReplyDeleteI think I have watched this 5 times by now!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE that I have a girlfriend that shares this gem with us on her blog. Love you girly girl and can't wait to see you xox
