fearLESS Friday with Shelley Moon

Week 8

It is such an honor to introduce you to my friend, Shelley Moon, a woman i've had the privilege of watching, over the last few years, take steps & bold leaps into her power.  She has moved through fear by shedding old beliefs and showing up for herself and her dreams, again and again--with commitment, courage and grace.

Thank you, Shelley, for being a living, breathing example of what is possible when we stay true.  You are one courageous woman and such an inspiration.

What a beautiful thing it is to walk this path with you.  And such a treat to have you here today!

***Please leave your fearless stories in the comment section (or just stop by & say hello)...we would so love to hear from you!

Grace

"The stories people tell have a way of taking care of them. If stories come to you-care for them and learn to give them away when needed. Sometimes a person needs a story more than food to stay alive. That is why we put these stories in each other's memories. This is how people care for themselves."     Barry Lopez

I am a storyteller by trade and by grace, guiding others in unearthing the stories we were born to tell, to free ourselves and others while letting go of the ones that no longer serve us; such as we are less than and unworthy.

Fear has been a fundamental part of my old story-an odd but old companion finding space for both fault and filler in my life. It's what I have used to push against and what I have used to feed and fill whatever perceived gaps and holes I have felt in my life. Fear is like Cool Whip-all fat and fluffy and no substance yet sometimes I get the giant serving spoon and shovel mouthfuls of it into my reality until I nearly vomit fear.

And then I remember who I really am, Divine Source Energy, and I fully embrace my new story of purpose, courage and freedom. I recognize in each now moment that I am always at a point of choice. Fear's seductive sleight of mind is the appearance that robs us of choice. I no longer fight fear nor do I want to be a "peaceful warrior" living that oxymoron. Take out the oxy and all you're left with is moron.

I no longer choose to be fear's fool. I choose again and again and again to show up and live from my true identity. The opposite of fear is not love. The opposite of fear is Grace. It's hard for me to focus on being fear-less or having less fear without the element of Grace because it keeps fear as the focus and us caught in the old paradigm. Rather, I choose the state of Grace-an authentic and fundamental awareness of my true identity- a perfect and wholly realized expression of this Grace. It is how the Universe fully loves and supports us. So now, whether I feel the small nigglings of fear or a veritable downpour, I practice my new story-my true story. I write and re-write and embellish with all the luscious details I can muster-the very truth of my existence.

When your brain is burning, your heart racing, and you feel most like running away- then run all right; run like hell toward your life, toward your future, toward the opening in the world, to a space in life reserved just for you and your dreams. This is the state of Grace that not only fulfills your desires but created the desires in the first place. Grace is the very gift of life itself. It always comes back to how we choose to live it.

Last week, I felt fear coming at me from all directions. All I could think of to place me in that state of Grace was that I desperately needed to play-to just play.  So I connected with my friend, Lyn, borrowed some tennis rackets and we just showed up, one hit at a time. We did Yoga postures on the court, and inner tennis "releasing" with each stroke. What we mostly did was run, laugh our tails off and play together in what my mentor calls "The Sea of Awareness" and what I call Grace.

So, how do we remember who we really are when we are really up against it? Why through Grace of course. Grace gives you the desire and the task and it also lovingly gives you everything required to realize it. It is both the promise and its fulfillment.

Julia's magnificent and fierce painting, Fearless Me, inspired the following poem:

I am amazed at Grace

The weight of the heavy hit
Breath knocked hard against my chest
Eyes and Heart burning black
a mad unmeasured heat
Cauterized by faith
Tempered by a hurricane of Grace
Hurled my way by a Universe that always
Always shows up through me and as you.
The Universe is my parent, my lover, my friend
My doctor, my lawyer, my priest.
It is my all in all
My supper and my salvation
The I am that I am.
I stuff my head between the jaws of Grace
And bite gently, slowly
But Grace is no bleeder.
A holy release
I wrap my arms around the neck of the Universe
And
Just
Fly!

Peace and Blessings,

Shelley

  3. Storytellers

We need to make up stories
to be able to create realities.
    That's what separates sapien
    from beast.

    Speak to the feast
    or famine.
    Sage, carnie, beggar
    Come to the play!

There was a Roman soldier bored with war,
    with whores, with bloody babies.
Hoping to escape, he wrote a history,
    moved into
    his Holy fantasy.
    It's but a Shangri-La, a piper's dream.
    Metal men, formed from clay,
    scream upon fields of battle,
    when nerves
    catch up with senses.
    Soothed with martial melodies,
    gratefully serve.

    Listen, oh little one.
The wind will catch you up as you sleep.
You won't remember when you wake, weeping,
how small, insignificant you are. Mommy assures,
you're her own little star. Demons alone explain
    your terror. You determine
to do better. You soothe yourself with stories.
You spin a tale of love within a dance.
You spin yourself the center of romance,
a home, a fortress, an emptiness fulfilled.

    Like a child counting fireflies,
    alive in the darkened air,
dare to immerse with sparkling wonder,
    to share
    more beautiful stories.
