Too Big to Contain

"The purpose of the creative process is never to satisfy the craving of the personality, but to go beyond it.  It is a practice of unlearning, of unburdening, of shedding beliefs and conditioning.  True creative energy arises when the impersonal and the personal meet.  To let that magic happen, the personality, with its heavy luggage, has to get out of the way.  To paint for process is to enter the mystery of the spirit by practicing the basic principles of being and awakening."    Michell Cassou from her book Life, Paint & Passion

Feeling burdened and weighty this morning.  I haven't painted in a while.  Every part of me is dying to express, to pick up the paintbrush, to put color on paper.  There is so much inside of me that wants to come out, that is aching to come out.  But yet, i resist.  I don't pick up the brush and the achy feeling builds & builds and feels like it will erupt right out of me.  It feels too big to contain.

So, this morning, i will begin. That's it.  I'll just pick up the paintbrush and let little bits of me trickle out.

Or maybe there will be a huge, colossal explosion.

We shall see.

  1. & what ever trickles &/or explodes out,
    it will be of you,
    & with that,
    it is GOOD.

  2. I know what you mean! I really do. I love this new piece of yours- I think it is my new favorite one. And you have a show so soon! I am thrilled for you.

What are you thinking/feeling? I'd really love to know...
