The Single Most Important Thing

"I do believe that the single most important thing I could ever share with you with regard to maximizing the health, harmony, and happiness in your life can be summed up in just two words: Love yourself."   ~Mike Dooley

Artwork by Rachel Awes

I can't tell you how many times lately I have gotten this Love yourself message.  It just keeps showing up.  And it makes total sense.  How can we possibly have anything real & true to give to others if we don't first love ourselves?

Today, this is how I am loving myself...I am going to turn off this computer and I'm going to go into my art room and pick up a paint brush and I'm going to paint and paint and paint. I am going to do my best to completely let go of "good" and just begin.  It's been far too long.  But first I'm going to go put my face to the sun (the sun is shining!) and say thank you.

What are you doing today to love yourself?  Nothing could matter more.

  2. Julia,

Once again, we are on the same path

My recent cleanse included eliminating the computer for past 8 days. Well, not totally ... more like a 95% elimination.

I wrote to you earlier that I have been practicing self-love, self-acceptane, and self-care more and more ... and when I do, I find myself doing all things that bring me joy.

I have also been creating joy in the form of paint, paper, felt, and fabric.
I am loving myself and feel totally “blissed out”.

So glad you are joining me on this path.

BTW, it was great to see the email from you.
    xoxo

  3. I am picturing you outside in your sweet little apron, connecting to the depths of you in you painting, letting the sunshine surround you, and feeling into the goodness! Enjoy!

  4. So glad you are picking up the paintbrushes again Julia.

I am loving myself by handing all my worries to God, and just being here, in this day, loving the home I live in, the man I'm with, and the show I'm in tonight.

    Thank you xxx

  5. it's often hard to stop and appreciate who we are, to sit with ourselves like an old friend and enjoy our own company - but if we don't do this first then we are no good company to anyone else. hope you enjoyed your paint date.

  6. Such an important message. Here's what's ringing in my heart these days:
Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart. - Unknown
I need to enjoy my space, however hectic. I need to love my company, however needy.

  8. This is beautiful. Whenever I come to your blog, I feel like you are hugging me. Your words are such an encouragement, Julia.

Today I am forgiving myself for the ways I fell short yesterday. I'm letting it go and wrapping my arms around myself :) I am enough, just as I am.
