Are you willing, in the name of Truth
to be unliked, unloved
misunderstood
to feel shaky-voiced afraid
"not ready"
and to say yes! anyway
tell me, are you willing
do you dare?
Are you willing to stretch
in the direction of the moon
say their old things
tell me, are you willing
do you dare?
Are you willing
to sob when you feel like sobbing
laugh when it's not "appropriate"
do you dare?
Are you willing to slow down
when they're speeding up
to say no to them
if it means saying yes
your voice shaking
and hide
tell me, are you willing
Are you willing to turn the faucet all the way on
to be careful
do you dare?
Are you willing to stay awake
no matter how sleepy you are
Are you willing to Trust
even when the only step you see is
this one
a path, a past
Are you willing to fall back
all the way back
on all you thought
you knew
tell me, are you willing
do you dare?
Are you willing to embrace
your quirks and “flaws”
find the gifts In your "mistakes"
and theres
no matter what
to Love
no matter what
to Trust
no matter what
tell me, are you willing
do you dare?
Are you willing to wait
when it's not yet time
until you are left with only
do you dare?
Are you willing to break free
from your boxes
tear down the walls
trust that love
that’s Real
tell me, are you willing
do you dare?
Are you willing to lean toward, lean into
that which cannot be bound
to brush the moon with your fingertips
what is beyond
tell me, are you willing
do you dare?
Are you willing
to let go of trying to be "good" if it means
stepping toward God
toward Love, toward whatever
makes you gasp
and grin and giggle
Tell me, are you willing
do you dare?
Excellent ponderings for me today. It's been a rough one and coming here, reading this post, reminds me to dig deeper.
ReplyDeleteSending love and gratitude your way, friend.

Beautiful, deep, crystal clear, powerful, resonating with truth questions, in the beautiful form of a poem. Whew, you rock! You are amazing.
ReplyDeleteYes, I dare. Not only am I willing, but there is no longer any choice, is there. Time to, as Tama Kieves says, stop nailing down our wings.
So glad we are taking this flying leap into the void together. How funny it is how easy it is to jump now, together, laughing our asses off, that we ever thought it would be so hard jump.
Beautiful and powerful. I want to scream, "Yes, I dare! Yes, I am willing! Yes, I trust. Yes, I will leap into the unknown." And yet there is still a part of me that whispers, "Are you sure? Is it safe? Can you get some sort of guarantee?" I'm standing at the edge and looking down - wanting to leap - knowing I need to leap - and almost ready to leap. Thank you, Julia. Your words are exactly what I needed right now.
ReplyDeleteJulia, this poem is fantastic. So beautiful. It asks all of the right questions. I agree with everything Jodi said. I feel myself - my true self - screaming YES! I am ready! I do dare! I feel that I am on the brink of something amazing. But I am working on just trusting, trusting, trusting that where I am now is exactly where I need to be.
ReplyDeleteI will be saving this poem and rereading it often.

Breathtaking. So many questions that I cannot but look at with honest eyes.
