Badass Love

"Love doesn’t happen to us, it happens because of us, because of who we are and what we do. It happens because we make it happen, because we choose it. On any given day, we have the opportunity again and again to choose isolation, withdrawal, anger, fear… or love. Love is untidy. It’s unpredictable. It’s often inconvenient and occasionally terrifying. Love happens, I’m convinced, when we are magnificent and badass enough to make it happen."

-Judy Clement Wall

When my beautiful, bold, brave, incredible-writer, love warrior friend, Judy Clement Wall, told me she wanted to kick off her new site with something fun and collaborative, and asked me to join her, I said a wholehearted YES.

At the beginning of 2011, Judy began the Love Project.  She declared publicly (on her blog Zebra Sounds) to spend all of 2011 "consciously, unabashedly, fearlessly spreading love."   And she so beautifully and courageously did just that--it has been an incredibly inspiring thing to witness.  Lucky for everyone, she has decided to extend/expand this incredible-ness.

In J's delicious words:

Last year , I tried hard to be fearless in love, and it changed me. I’m not the same person I was when I started the love project. Near the end of 2011, someone asked me if I thought I would be sad to see it end and I told her, 'I think maybe I’m just getting started.'  My answer surprised me. It was a revelation. An uncharted step north.

I am more convinced than ever that if we tap into our unique human capacity to choose love over fear, anger and withdrawal; if we let love fuel our hunger to communicate and create; if we believe in (and surrender to) its power to break us open in astonishing and transformative ways… we can change the world.

Love, is there anything more important?

To read more, head on over to J's brand new site, A Human Thing, which she launched today.  Today!  I think you'll find that what she's doing is quite beautifully contagious and quite incredibly brave and so damn important.  Be prepared for your world to be rocked.

And, now for the details on our little project...

We will be sharing 41 (yes, that number again!) 6-word days. In J's words:  Every night, we’ll email each other a 6-word glimpse of our day, whether it was wonderful or terrible or hilarious or strange, and we’ll post them on our sites. It’ll be like holding hands; together apart.

We'd love for you to join us. I have created a page specifically for this little collaboration (see the top of this home page). You can post your 6-word days there in the comment thread or on A Human Thing’s Facebook page.  Come play with us!
